Vacationland Figure Skating Club

 We need volunteers for test session on August 8th 2010.  This is a great opportunity to learn and observe what a test session is all about.  Positions that are needed include runners, registration, ice monitors, hospitality and test chair assistant.  Also needed are home made food items for the judges and volunteers.  Some soup, sandwiches, salads and deserts.  Please contact Toni Renford if you are able to help!

  We are looking for parents that would like to become more involved.  This might include running for the Board, joining one of the many VFSC committees or even chairing a committee or event.  If you are interested but don't feel confident you can "shadow" an existing chair or committee member and learn the ropes first.

 We are currently in desperate need of an individual to assist with the annual ice show.  A Co-Chair is responsible for overseeing all other show committees.  There are a wide variety of duties and responsibilities that are involved.  Generally need someone that is a self starter, very organized, people person with time available year around but specifically December thru show time each year.

 At the annual banquet, coming in April, we will be holding elections to fill 3 terms that are due to expire.  These seats are currently held by:

Shirley Lundstrom  (2nd term, may not run again)

Toni Renford, current President (1st term, may re-run)

Amy Wiegand, current Secretary  (1st term, may run)

Do you have ideas on how we could build a better club?  Are you concerned about it's future and existing programs?  Can you commit to a minimum of 12 meetings per year plus being present at most events?  

Being on the Board is a huge responsibility and commitment of time.  It is also very rewarding.  Be at the forefront of new ideas and events.  Feel like you've made a difference in the lives of many children!  Know that you've helped your own child by ensuring a solid club for years to come.  

Terms are for 3 years.  Board members are expected to volunteer on a  weekly, sometimes daily basis to assist in the operations of the club.  It is important to be a self starter and motivated yet work well with others and be a part of the management team.  Once elected to the Board, you will be eligible to run for one of the Club Officer positions, President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer.  Officer positions are a term of 1 year.

 Looking for a Chair (and committee members) to organize and host the annual banquet/annual full membership meeting in the spring of each year.  Duties include:

Renting a facility, sending out invites, serving a simple dinner, organizing games and activities for skaters,  set up, clean up, etc.

 We are currently looking for a Chair (and committee members) for club historian.  Duties would include preserving and identifying documents, pictures.  Interviewing club members that were active in years past.  Generally document past and current events and special memories.
