Junior Club

When should a skater join Junior Club?

When a skater has completed the USFSA Basic Skills Program, has a desire to pursue competitive skating,or just wants to pursue a higher level of skating it is time to move on to private lessons in Junior Club. It is recommended that skaters enter the our Junior Club program once they have passed at least Basic Three in the Basic Skills program. Jr Club provides an opportunity for advanced private instruction from the coach of your choice. Skaters and parents should meet the VFSC coaches who are available for private lessons and observe coaching styles before choosing a coach.

For more information on transitioning to Junior Club please contact our Junior & Senior Club Head Pro, Melissa Hannah at 963-4225 or gmhannah@nisswa.net

New This Season! Jr Club Track Options

Jr Club Skaters are now eligible for a 2010 Ice Show feature number!!

We are pleased to announce that certain Jr club skaters that chose to meet requirements will be awarded a quintet or quartet in the 2010 spring Ice Show! This is a privilege previously reserved for Sr club skaters are we are excited that Jr club skaters now have the opportunity to earn a feature show number.

On October 1st every year a Jr club skater must chose a track, Gold or Silver.  You will make your selections on the “Jr Club Track Options” form. Once you chose a track you can not switch until October 1st of next year. Please see that form and the 2010 Show Criteria for more information.

Generally this is a summary of what the tracks entail:

Gold Track
The skater must skate at least one freestyle session all year long, including summer. In addition, the skater must participate in at least 2 competitions per year. If those requirements are met then the skater will be awarded a quintet or quartet in the 2010 show! In addition, the skater will also be a part of either the opening number OR the second half opening number. If the skater does not fulfill the Gold Track requirements they will automatically default to the Silver Track.

Silver Track
The skater has no requirements and will be placed in a Jr Club group number in the show.

Please read the Jr Club Track Options form carefully and turn it into the Criteria Chair, Toni Renford, by October 1st.   If you are interested you may also like to read the full 2010 Show Criteria rules. This explains criteria for both Jr and Sr clubs. If your skater is close to passing the pre-preliminary test level it may be in your best interest to know the Sr Club criteria!

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Toni Renford toniren@tds.net or Melissa Hannah gmhannah@nisswa.net
